This piece is another piece of fanart, this time for Trigun, of Nicholas D. Wolfwood. His actions and motivations throughout the series are entirely based in wanting to keep the children of the orphanage he was raised in safe, while their lives are lorded over his head by the antagonist of the series. He is both depicted as a priest, and a sinner, even lamenting that he doesn’t deserve heaven when he dies. I couldn’t help but picture him as one of the many statues of the virgin Mary that supposedly cry blood, an omen, a sign from god. I wanted to depict that struggle he has, that religious iconography. He prays for salvation, but his tears betray his thoughts of damnation instead.
