It Is What It Is
This piece was a still life of a skeletal model, draped across a classroom table. The background of this piece was also a gesso covered poster, and the original print pokes through. The pose of the skeleton evokes a feeling of resignation, tiredness, and it reminds me of a constant underlying feeling that has been experienced by almost everyone I know, especially post-covid. Many young people, unable to afford therapy or even their own basic needs, have combated this feeling with a simple mantra: “It is what it is”.
