This project was to create a gig poster for a band as if they were to be putting on a concert. I chose the band Studio Killers, a group that uses cartoon personas as the members, allowing the real musicians to maintain some privacy while also continuing to create their art. I used bright colors, specifically a blue and pink combination, inspired by their music videos and primarily drawing from the mint and pink in “Ode to the Bouncer”. The neon light motif suits their pop styling while also alluding to the slight rock influence in their music and also allowed me to keep the lettering style sharp, like their primary logo. The overall composition is inspired by their previous live performances and allowed me to use the geometric shapes of the masks that two of the performers wear to help inform the flat coloring style.
