This piece was created as an illustration of a moment in the life of another character I created, Alastair. I wanted to depict him in a loving moment with his two daughters, having a tea party, and giving them a childhood that is better than the one he had. A large part of his character revolves around wanting to prove to himself that he is a better person and can be a good father, even when he didn’t have one himself. It’s overcoming trauma and breaking a cycle of abuse. I wanted to explore that idea by showing him with his children who love him dearly. This was another piece that pushed me to do more with perspective, and to find a way to balance my more soft shading style with my appreciation of linework and lined styles.
