This piece is actually a piece of fanart, and a birthday gift for a good friend of mine, of Reigen Arataka from Mob Psycho 100. I wanted to explore seeing him in a more realistic style than the original anime, and lean into what I picture as some aspect of his personal life, going home after a long day of work, walking through city streets, and smoking a cigarette to relax. This was primarily an experiment in lighting and perspective for me, as I often find myself slipping into my comfort zone of front-facing portrait style pieces. I also decided to use it as a way of making myself explore the ways fabric wrinkles and falls on loose fitting clothes like his dress shirt, and structured items like his jacket.
